Activities-

Under the Cooperative Legislation, the primary administrative responsibility of the department is to ensure the smooth functioning of institutions in accordance with the Chhattisgarh Co-operative Societies Act, 1960 and the Rules of 1962. This includes the formation of cooperative institutions, their inspection, auditing, and the implementation of government policies. In its developmental role, the department also implements various schemes for the development of different sections of the state’s population. These include both institutional and individual beneficiary-oriented schemes. By regulating, controlling, and guiding the cooperative movement, the department strengthens the movement by providing financial assistance to cooperative institutions. The department ensures that public welfare schemes are implemented through cooperative institutions. It carries out tasks such as the formation of cooperative societies, conducting elections, auditing, resolving disputes, and liquidation, in accordance with the various provisions of the Act.

Departmental Responsibilities-

  1. Registration, supervision, inspection, and liquidation of cooperative societies.
  2. Settlement of disputes related to cooperative societies.
  3. Providing financial assistance to cooperative societies/individual members under government schemes.
  4. Implementation of government welfare schemes through cooperative societies.
  5. Implementation of rules related to recruitment and service conditions of officers/employees working in the Cooperation Department.
